Saint-Denys Basilica
At the heart of the town centre, Saint-Denys Basilica holds the famous Holy Tunic, a relic venerated since the Middle Ages and displayed every fifty years. Its neo-Gothic choir and bright nave make it a moving place to visit, even if you simply drop in. A walk that begins at the basilica, continues along Rue Paul-Vaillant-Couturier and ends on a terrace gives a first date both an old and a lively flavour.
Around the Town Hall
The elegant stone Town Hall of Argenteuil watches over a lively square where flea markets, outdoor markets and local fêtes are held. The streets that radiate from it, around Rue Henri-Barbusse and Place Pierre-Sémard, mix family shops, bakeries and small bistros. People like to linger here on a Sunday morning, coffee in hand, watching the town wake up before choosing the next stop.
Old Argenteuil and markets
Above the centre, the old Argenteuil keeps a few older lanes and viewpoints over the Seine. The Héloïse Market, one of the busiest in town, delights food lovers several mornings a week. On Lyad, people from Argenteuil share their addresses and neighbourhood memories; it is up to you to find someone to push open a door, taste a cheese and keep the conversation going.
